How to Moderate Comments

Getting comments is an effective way of giving feedback. However, sometimes you need to moderate comments because they are unsuitable, negative, or inappropriate. VIDIZMO offers a comment moderation feature that allows you to have control over the discussions carried out on the content posted.

By default, comment moderation is disabled. See How to Configure Comment Moderation to enable it.

Once enabled, you can perform actions on multiple comments simultaneously. See How to Perform Bulk Actions on Comments for more information.

Prerequisites

  • Users must belong to a group with the Allow Commenting permission enabled.

Approve or Reject a Comment

  1. In VIDIZMO, select the Navigation menu.
  2. Go to Admin > Media Manager.
  3. Select the Comments tab in the header.

The Comments screen has three tabs:

  • Pending - Displays all comments received for moderation (default view). The orange circle next to the Comments tab indicates the number of pending comments.
  • Approved - Displays all approved comments.
  • Rejected - Displays all rejected comments.
  1. In the Pending tab, locate the comment you want to moderate.
  2. Under the Action column, select one of the quick action buttons:
    • ✔ (Checkmark) - Approve the comment. The comment moves to the Approved section and becomes visible to viewers.
    • ✕ (X) - Reject the comment. The comment moves to the Rejected section.
    • Pen icon - Edit the comment before approving or rejecting.

To moderate multiple comments at once, select the checkboxes on the left of each comment, then use the bulk action buttons to approve, reject, or delete them.

Edit a Comment

You can edit a comment in any tab (Approved, Pending, or Rejected) if you have the Allow Commenting permission enabled.

  1. In the Comments tab, locate the comment you want to edit.
  2. Select the Pen icon next to the comment to open the text field.
  3. Edit the text as required.
  4. Select Update to save changes, or Cancel to discard changes.

If moderation is enabled for the video, edited comments are sent for moderation before becoming visible to viewers.
